Funny story; when my older brother and me where younger this movie was being played on generic TV and during every time it went to ads my brother and me would start having a fist fight and when the movie came back on we would stop and sit back down to watch the movie. About half way through the movie we just stopped not fighting and we just continued to fight even when the movie came back. We'd just half fight half watch, and I can pretty much remember the movie perfectly; it's such a vivid memory and goofy memory for me.

I dont care what anyone says Black flag is absolutely tremendous and beautifully written, is it perfect? No. But this game has earned its praise and gave us one of the best stories and characters and for me my favourite game of all time. I miss when AC had such masterful story telling. Also Lazerzz, i cant imagine the work and dedictaion this video took. It was a blast to listen and enjoy and your passion and entertaining personality made this so enjoyable to listen to. I’ve finished Black flag 4 times and didn’t know most of the things you dived into here. Thank you so much for this video, a 10/10 video and amazing presentation. ❤

I have to say i really hate the Far zenith story line, for one it was to similiar to the Ted Faro swarm, and 2ndly the whole thing with the Far zenith unlocking immortality with very limited resources within the lifetime of the original settlers. This doesnt even mention that the 2 main antagonists within the Far Zenith are both obsessive around ppl and events that happend a millenia ago, issues that frankly they could and should have already resolved. Its just a little of a streetch to think that these ppl dont move on for a thousand years but also doesnt do anything during those thousand years (especially Tilda when they have Elizabeths DNA) Honestly i think that they should have just not done the whole far Zenith thing and instead focused on the tribal conflicts aswell as the various Gaia sub personalities and if they have a right to excists etc.

It's been so long since I play the first AC, 7:40 was pretty cool. Can't speak of AC now, because I simply got bored of the gameplay formula after AC3. But they (the devs) really did seem to put a lot of thoughts into the writing. I remember really liking Altair and Ezio.

What I find odd is that by trying to " fix" the history written by the powerful and excluding the oppressed, you have a super wealthy company from the echonomic and cultural hegemonic power inserting reflections of their own demography and society ( they chose to reivindicate blackness because black is an important minority in USA society) into the story of other, less influential nations and peoples, and then distribute it globally. C'mon man, you must see the irony.

Indeed this video has taken me nearly a week to watch. But only because work got in the way. Impressive video. I had started replaying AC1 before I started watching this video, actually. I got to memory block 2 or 3. And now that I've finished watching this, I'm definitely restarting my game. I just have to. I'm not a hardcore AC fan like James here, or like others probably watching this video. But I do enjoy the games that own, which are from AC1 to AC Rogue, and I've played them several times. Although I'm gonna say that since the time that I bought my PS3 till now I've only played Black Flag once and Rogue like two times, I think. The Ezio games are awesome and I've played them a bunch of times. Most of the time I say Revelations is my favorite because I really enjoy the Ezio character in that game and because Revelations is as much about Ezio as it is about Altair. Or at least that's how I perceive it. Also Clay is great and I loved what I learned while playing The Lost Archives. If there's one character I wish was brought back, it's Clay Kaczmarek. But I have to admit Brotherhood is an excellent game on its own as well. However, if I have to say which AC games are my favorites, those are AC1 and AC3. In fact, AC3 is the AC game I own that I've played the most. I can't even remember how many times I've played it. Last month I even played it twice, I started it again as soon as I finished it. I know Connor isn't most people's favorite, but I really like his character and his journey. And I honestly enjoy everything there is to do in AC3. Of course it's not a perfect game or anything. But I genuinely love it. The whole package really. I even liked playing the Tyranny of Washington, sue me. But AC1? The very first time I played it (which was around 2012/2013) it blew me away. And I see a lot of the things that captured me about AC1 being told right here on this video. AC1 really was a game that kept me going, wanting to discover and uncover more and more. I absolutely felt like I was Altair as played. From being this arrogant person thinking I know best, to this person questioning why am I doing the things I'm doing, to this person finally learning the truth and doing what has to be done. No other AC game has made me feel part of the journey like AC1 did. And I completely agree AC games will never achieve this again. The franchise is a mess, Ubisoft is worse. And I'm never buying another AC game after Rogue. I've always wanted to play Unity. But nowadays I'm not giving Ubisoft my money even if someone pays me to. And after the videos I've watched about parkour, recommended on this vedeo, I don't care about Unity anymore. The game is clearly halfbaked and the parkour looks godawful, I seriously want to barf about it. I'm taking with me a lot of things from this video. One thing being that I need to walk this game more. Whenever I get to each city I'm always focusing on investigation and collectables (yes, I collect all the flags every single time that I play this game) that I really never take the time to just walk, listen, and get myself to truly experience each city. I'm gonna do that next time I play, which will be right after I'm finished with this comment. OMG I'm just now learning the a vault mechanic in this game💀 I'm definitely trying that next time, too. There are a lot of things I never cared to see that I find fascinating as I watch this video. Like all the things about the city of Acre. I didn't notice half the things James talks about, like the city's architecture or how it is the product of the crusaders taking over. Or how that viewpoint is the last one to look like its original architecture. All of it is so cool and fascinating. It really makes me feel like I've been playing this game, enjoying every bit of dialogue and information to read; but without truly seeing the environment. And I'm so glad to have watched this video to realize this so that I can correct that. Another thing that resonates with me as I watched is how James' opinion on the three targets of Acre pretty much is the same as mine. I've always enjoyed those three the most. The locations, the planning, getting away, and of course the confessions. No other game has mastered dialogue like this one. On a side note, I actually can assassinate William without being detected and get away without being seen. I don't remember well but I think there's been occasions where I was able to also flee the shipyard undetected after assassinating Sibrand. Sadly, usually I'm not as stealthy as I'd like when going after Garnier. I really should attempt using the scholars more, or better. Vidic is indeed interesting in this game. But I'll say that even if it wasn't the intention at first to have Lucy be a double agent, I never liked her and since I learned she was a tractor while playing Brotherhood (I think it was Brotherhood), I can never see her as one of the good guys. Not even in the first game. My brain really goes to think that she is just acting all the time to win Desmond's trust, to fool him, and manipulating him. Even if that's not the real intention in the first game, I really don't care. It's also satisfying getting rid of her at the end of Brotherhood. Another thing I agree with is what a terrible idea it was to change the silver apple to gold. Yeah, not a fan of that. And one last thing, I'm not a fan of the Isu dna stuff, so to me Altair definitely overcame the apple's illusion because of his strong will and convictions. Screw the alien dna stuff. Screw Origins too, and quite frankly everything that came after Black Flag, I guess. Amazing video. And congratulations. I really admire the passion you had for this franchise. And I share the utter disdain for what it has become.

my issue is that no AC before this one had a historical figure as the main character. how cool was it when we met leonardo, or when we met macchieveli, even when we met cleopatra. itt would’ve been just as cool if we met yasuke as we played the game and he became an ally? as a black, african man, i can tell you they used him as a selling point because they knew it would cause unrest.

    • @briantaylor7120

I haven’t played PlayStation (or Xbox) since the PS2 days; as a casual gamer and huge zelda fan, I was content with a Nintendo 3ds/switch.. GOW was the very first “Good graphics” game I played & introduction back into the world of PlayStation. Such an amazing game! Currently on my second game (the last of us remastered) but I can’t stop thinking about God of war; just buying and playing the sequel already! I love retrospectives in general, but you did such an amazing job here! Thank you.

About the glove and bike story - I always thought he was just making it up to act like they connect and make her do what he wants. I feel like that's the intention of the writers because of how the story ends (as you cant really ride a glove).

Idfk but god it was so dry and after beating it, I didn't wanna play it anymore because what's the point? I play Saints Row 2 over and over because of the random npcs saying stupid shit, jumping off cliffs and in Saints Row 4 they fight you, the cheats are fun, the secret locations and easter eggs are the cherries on top, the details are amazing. The reboot is just nothing and why the fuck are we in the dessert???????

This game definitely isn’t perfect, but I enjoyed the hell out of this game, more than 2018, the story was just as good if not better, the new characters were so diverse and well written, we aren’t stuck with trolls as bosses every time, respect the video but respectfully disagree, this game is in my top 3 of all time

Solid points, though you’d be in the minority of people agreeing with them as the game has been critically acclaimed as one of the best within the last few decades - the numbers speak loudly for themselves. Though this doesn’t exclude the game from any critique, (or any game for that matter) it does mean your experience does not match the general player experience, as the game is reviewed very favorably.

The truly tragic part about Vendrick is that he became desperate due to the curse, listened to Nashandra, fought an entire war and stole what is speculated to be the Ashen Mist Heart, let a whole other kingdom and race of beings (the giants) fall into ruin due to this, collected all of the ancient powerful souls, was nearly going to open up the throne, only to realize that Nashandra had tricked him and was almost close to her victory due to his actions… so where you find him is where he chose to go willingly, knowing he would succumb to the curse and lose himself. And Aldia never tried to rescue his brother from this. Aldia canonically took the AMH and experimented with it, and even figured out how to break the curse. At a cost, of course, he still lost his humanity even if he kept his mind. Yet he never went back to save his brother, and I think that was BECAUSE he lost his humanity. He maybe could’ve even taken the throne if he wanted, but he lost his purpose too, just in a different way.

As for how DS2 is received and spoken of, I think it’s because we all feel like it had some serious potential to be the best, but time crunches and intentional gameplay element changes kept it back. Considering Dark Souls got a proper full blown remaster, I feel like DS2 needs one, only in this case they need to make some serious alterations: 1) Remove the I-frame feature from ADP and make the I-frames equal to DS1 2) Similarly, Estus drinking speed needs to be boosted to where it is when ADP is leveled to around 40 or so, but by default and remove it from being affected by the ADP stat. Seriously, I hate drinking Estus and the animation takes so long it kills me, but if ADP is at 40, it’s just fine. 3) Weapons need to maintain consistent aim when locked on. 4) 360 full degrees of movement rotation and less sliding 5) Item durability needs to be closer to DS3 levels 6) Many enemies need to have less poise, I hate how you need to hit certain enemies like 3-4 times just to break their poise once, and in return, the player needs to have a bit more poise because I don’t think I ever got to tank a hit while maintaining poise until the late game, and even then it was rare. 7) Just do passwords, no need for a ring. I’m sure there are more, but I think these are the “critical” changes that are necessary if they do actually choose to remaster the game again. There are definitely changes I want past this, but those are more for the “Quality of life” section and wouldn’t be deal breaking if they didn’t show up. Things like making torches relevant past two spots in the game, things like that

i think its about “trust” at the end of the day. people nowadays just doesnt trust Ubisoft to make a story without forced western culture (something they use the word “woke”). why western company? ok lets try Elden Ring. the game have MANY of these “woke” factor but people TRUST it is not forced and happened naturally that nobody cares. what factor? let me list: Strong female character - the game features a world with QUEEN Marika as the leader of the world. even after beating one of the best ending, Ranni is the new ruler and you are just the consort - the base game’s hardest boss is Malenia which is again a strong female character Disabilty representation - Radahn lotteraly have no feet - Malenia (the hardest and strongest demigon in the lore) is disabled (no right hand) Minority group/oppressed race becoming a leader - the Omens which is people that are born with horn are treated horribly in this world and somehow one of the demigod that is unfortunately born as an omen became a King while still hiding his identity as an Omen. Gay representation - SPOILER hahahahah. the DLC’s last boss reveals that Miquella and Radahn is gay and you know what…NOONE CARES. because the game is good and the story is great. BECAUSE ITS NOT THE MAIN MARKET POINT OF THE GAME. then why does people dont trust Ubisoft? they are a CLEARLY virtue signalling finger wiggling company that made us read “…produced by a multicultural team with various beliefs, sexual orientation, and gender identities” EVERYTIME WE LOG IN. now let me ask can you say WITHOUT A SHADOW OF A DOUBT (no pun intended) that the reason Yasuke is chosen isnt because of his race? i just DONT TRUST ubisoft enough just the way i trust Fromsoftware.

Beautifully said. I am lucky enough to have found a wife at 20 who loves when I talk to her of the old assassins creed and Skyrim days. The yearning of wanting to travel to Venice or Rome. She now shares these same dreams when I myself questioned my passions and fell in love with the same characters I did. Without that I would be the same teenager inside who would have never gotten over how much has changed in this world and in gaming. I related a lot to Ezio specifically and it got me to understand that I too could emulate the same qualities of goodness, morality, and wisdom I saw in the characters I love. What I wouldn’t give to go back just once. Great video man

Wow, 8 minutes in, and you haven't said anything of substance. I wish I had that amount of free time to tell nonsense. I hoped it'd be a good critical video like a couple others I watched from other channels, but it's most likely not worth anybody's time

It's woke, they picked up basically the only black person in Japan and made him the main character. They could added him like a meaningful NPC in the game's story

Regarding your short comments on Odyssey vs Valhalla, I found that a lot of the attention to history made Odyssey more enjoyable on a second playthrough-after watching videos on the history of that era, as well as some light research-in addition to following a canon playthrough based on the novelization of the game. Valhalla, despite its very little story around Basim, spits on so much of history, and it could have easily fit well with history. From anachronisms to complete fantasy (more than AC usually includes), it made Odyssey feel more Assassin’s Creed than itself. Also, you misunderstood Eivør’s reason for not becoming an Assassin. It wouldn’t have mattered if it was the Hidden Ones, the Levantine Brotherhood, or Altaïr’s reformed brotherhood, she expressed disinterest because there was no glory in it. She cared only about pride and legacy. While that is fitting for Vikingr, it’s also boring for an Assassin’s Creed main game. Anyway, enough about those two. You made a great video, and I enjoyed listening to it in sequences. Black Flag will always be my favorite to return to and 100%. I enjoyed it so much, back when Ubisoft screwed me over and game me a migraine trying to get Freedom Cry-despite purchasing the Seasons Pass, and having my save file lost in the messy process of trial and error before they finally gave it to me-I was willing to completely 100% the game over again after having lost my save file. I was only mildly annoyed by it, but the game has a way of soothing you for the most part. Especially that soundtrack.

Am i the only one who like conviction over blacklist? I think it's because it just doesn't feel like a splinter cell game without Michael Ironside being sam fisher it just doesn't feel right for me, maybe that's why lol

What is possible an explanation for how she became an actress is she did something for fun when she was little, that Agent thought she had potential and offered her what seemed like a great deal and then they were stuck in the contract.
